About Twitter:
Twitter originated from Sans Francisco. An information network powered by people all around the world that allows you to share and discover what's happening NOW! Twitter asks "what's happening" and makes the answer spread across the globe to millions, instantaneously!
What Twitter does:
Whether it's breaking news, or traffic jams, your current mood, Twitter keeps you informed with what matters most to you today and helps you discover what might matter to you, tomorrow.
What's WOW about Twitter:
-You can access to Twitter through more than 50,000 third party internet and mobile applcations!
-Twitter now comes in many languages: French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.
-Twitter is forging deals with the biggest telecom operators in the world to allow users to send and receive Twitter messages over SMS and MMS at no additional cost. Isn't this a super WOW!!?
Next up, Facebook!
About Facebook:
A social networking website that is operated and privately owned by Facebook. Since 2006, anyone over the age of 13 with a valid email address can become a Facebook user. The website's membership was initially limited by the founders to Harvard students, but was expanded to other colleges in Boston area. It later expanded further to include university students, high school students, and, finally to anyone aged 13 and over.
What Facebook does:
A platform for friends to interact through updating their statuses, and keep in touch with one and other. The website is free and generates revenues from advertising, such as banner ads. Communicating with friends and other users can be done through private or public messages!
What's WOW about Facebook:
-The website currently has more than 400million active users worldwide!
-A January 2009 Compete.com study ranked Facebook as the most used social network by worldwide monthly active users, followed by MySpace.
-Actually, Facebook has met with some controversy. It has been blocked in several countries, including China, Vietnam and Iran. It has also been banned at many places of work to discourage employees from wasting their time using this service.
-Facebook launched a Facebook Platform on 24May 2007, providing a framework for software developers to create applications that interact with the core Facebook features. Within a few months of launching Facebook Platform, issues arose regarding "application spam", which involves Facebook applications "spamming" users to request it installed.
